Architectural Consultancy - East Sussex & West Kent

We focus mainly on the following type of residential projects:

House Extensions

If you do not wish to move but need more space, then an extension is often the answer.

Whether you require a porch over your front door or a much larger extension to form additional accommodation, then we can assist. We will prepare plans and can often reconfigure the layout of your existing property to make better use of the space you have. We can then submit all of the necessary applications to the local authority.

There has never been a better time to extend your home the combination of the stagnant housing market, extremely low interest rates, and builders being extremely competitive, make it an ideal time to improve your property. House extensions can provide invaluable additional floor space and provide a significant increase in standard of living and general well-being.

A well designed and carefully considered extension will inevitably add value and potentially make it easier to sell your house, should you wish to do so.

New Build Homes

In recent years, we have been involved in the design and preparation of drawings for numerous new build houses for both private clients and property developers.

We can develop your ideas from initial concepts, through sketch design into drawings for planning, building regulations and construction issue. A full Project Management service is also available, and may be of interest to you.

As specialists in residential design, our clients put their trust in us to provide a unique service covering every aspect of the design and build process. Over 25 years of experience have taught us that people want beautiful homes that are practical and expertly finished.

They also want a design company who can complete every project with the minimum disruption and the maximum expertise.

Loft Conversions

It is not always practical to extend your property, especially if the space surrounding your property is limited. Loft or Garage Conversions are often a convenient way to improve and extend your living accommodation without increasing the foot print of the original building.

This is sometimes the preferred solution, where the existing roof construction is of a size to accommodate additional rooms. Converting your loft space can often be the most cost-effective and least disturbing way of gaining additional living space.

Interior Remodelling

Where buildings have become outdated or obsolete, it may be a cost-effective option to carry out refurbishment work. We can produce existing floor plans and be part of the design process required to provide functionality and efficient use of space available. Drawings can then be developed as necessary for Planning, Building Regulations and other statutory approvals.

We commissioned Southridge Architecture to prepare us a set of Planning & Building Regulations drawings for a rear extension, and then submit them to our local council on our behalf.

The brief for the extension was not straightforward, as we have an older property with low elevations, had a party wall issue to resolve, and desperately wanted the extension to blend in perfectly with our existing property.

We went through various iterations of plans, with Andrew making suggestions along the way, in order to gain a set of Planning and Building Regulations drawings that were both viable and pleasing to the eye. Andrew then handled the submissions and approval processes with Rother District Council.

Having used a couple of different Architects in the past, we can honestly say that the quality of Southridge Architecture's work was far superior to anything we had previously received.

We would not hesitate to recommend them for your planning needs, you will not be disappointed.
